In August 2023, our field team was sent from Sweden to Spain for a methane quantification project for a high-profile customer.
Despite many years of evidence in the scientific community, very little care has been taken to tackle fugitive site emissions in the oil and gas industry. As a consequence of global initiatives such as Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 and IMEO, the committment of gas operators has become more than a clever marketing strategy.
The reality of losses of marketable product is increasingly becoming a source of concern for gas operators and their investors. However, more needs to be done on a regular basis in order to harness as much energy as possible to avoid waste of resources. Methane measurements and greenhouse gas monitoring will be the talk of the town for many years to come. Spending time and resources for field measurements and methane data capture is the necessary basis for more targeted methane reduction strategies.
Hence why companies like ourselves are the jewel in the crown when it comes to evaluate methane losses technically and scientifically sound.
